Opera Pro Cantanti is always looking for new singers. Remember, our central mandate is to offer local singers an opportunity to sing in major operas.

We welcome any singer who loves opera and  has some experience with the classical repertoire. But you don't have to be trained singer to work with us.

As a singer, you may be:

• A choral  singer who sings in a local choir. Consider joining one or more of our opera choruses.Opera chorus music is tuneful, exciting and often relatively easy. Your biggest challenge will be singing in a language you don't know, most likely Italian. Also, as a choral singer, you may not be used to memorizing music. We'll help you will both challenges by providing instruction and lots of rehearsals. You'll discover how much fun singing in an opera chorus can be.
• A singer with some solo experience. You may want to join a chorus and at the same time sing a comprimario part. A comprimario part is a small, secondary part, that may be as short as a few lines or big enough to demand  you sing an aria. These parts are great for developing your musical skills and building confidence.
• An experienced opera singer with musical training. If you fall into this category, you may want to try out for a major part in one of our operas. You must be able to sightread well enough to learn the part on your own.

No matter what your level, you will learn an enormous amount about how operas work, how they are prepared and staged and what makes them such an intense and rewarding art form.
